ZE CAT’s catalytic carbon converter system design integrates three systems into one unit: catalytic converter, molten salt separator, and nanofiber chambers. In the final design, ZE CAT will focus on eliminating the external catalytic converter, to prevent theft, and ground fires, which will allow an internal catalytic converter to provide efficient heat exchange for the onboard storage chamber.

Driven by new targets for lower CO2 emissions and the need for light-weighting of vehicular structures, the global demand for composites such as CFRP in aerospace, construction, wind energy and automotive is projected to continue to grow at an annualized rate of 6 percent to $41.4 billion in 2025 (Zhang, Chevali, Wang & Wang, 2020).

  • Catalytic Carbon Converter System (CCCS): This innovative system will capture and remove atmospheric CO2.
